Job Purpose
Reporting to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for the development, management and maintenance of human capital programs (includes HR strategy, manpower plans, staff costs management and optimisation), policies and procedures to attract, select, recruit, develop, retain and manage employees to deliver the Bank’s strategy and business plans.
Main Responsibilities
Lead and Direct the Human Resource team and staff.
Is a member of the BPR Bank Executive Committee;
Liaises with the Managing Director and Heads of Department to prepare and implement the HR strategy;
Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.
Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, health and safety, succession planning, employee relations, industrial.
Manages human resource operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, counselling, and staff discipline and grievance handling; planning, monitoring, appraising and reviewing staff performance; developing/maintaining staff benefit, reward and recognition programs; determining productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies and implementing change.
Supports management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions; analysing information and applications. Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
Complies with legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Develops and maintains risk and compliance controls for the HR Department.
Maintains relationships with key stakeholders: Board HR Committees, executive and senior management, industry/regulatory bodies, trade union leadership, key consultants and service providers.
Educational qualifications and work experience:
Bachelor's level degree in Business related field with statutory HR professional qualifications.
Master’s Degree in Human Resource/Equivalence is an added advantage.
8 or more years of progressive experience (preferably from large organizations) in Human Resource Management with at least 5 years at senior management level.
Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development.
Have appreciation and operating knowledge of the banking industry, market, trends as well as challenges
Sound understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements of corporate governance, risk management, business and banking operations.
Demonstrable cross-cultural, people and relationship management skills, networking and negotiation skills, team motivation and leadership competence.
