BPR Bank Rwanda’s Managing Director, Patience Mutesi, shared the bank’s vision for a more connected and inclusive financial ecosystem during the RBA Research Conference 2026, emphasizing the critical role of collaboration in shaping the future of financial services in Rwanda.
Speaking during a panel discussion on financial sector innovation and integration, Mutesi highlighted how BPR is leveraging its strengths in trust, regulatory compliance, and financial stability while forging strategic partnerships with fintech companies and telecommunications providers.
“At BPR, we are anchoring on trust, regulatory strength, and our balance sheet while partnering with fintechs for agility and innovation, and telecoms for last-mile access. Through such partnerships, we are unlocking seamless interoperability and moving the industry away from siloed competition toward connected, customer-centric solutions,” she said.
She noted that meaningful collaboration across the financial ecosystem is essential to expanding access to financial services, improving customer experiences, and accelerating Rwanda’s digital transformation journey.
Concluding her remarks, Mutesi outlined a bold vision for the future of finance in Rwanda—one where technology and partnerships remove barriers and create opportunities for every citizen.
She described a future where small and medium-sized enterprises receive payments instantly, farmers can access credit without cumbersome paperwork, and young entrepreneurs manage their finances effortlessly across integrated platforms.
“That’s the Rwanda we’re building toward,” she stated.
